Lailuma Sadid, is a journalist and former diplomat from Afghanistan, who was whipped twice by the Taliban the first time they took power in Afghanistan.
She holds a degree in journalism from Kabul University and a Master’s degree in Political Science from ULB. She was honored with the EU Women’s Leadership Forum Award in 2020, the Henri La Fontaine International Humanism Prize in 2023, and a prize from the Afghanistan organization Khana-e-Khorshid in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2024.
Currently, she works as a communications and journalism assistant at ULB and serves as the president of the Network of Afghan Diaspora Organizations in Europe (NADOE). She has been advocating for women’s rights in Afghanistan and abroad for over 25 years and continues to support Afghan women in their struggle for justice and equality.
