Barrack Rima

Comic book author and filmmaker, Barrack Rima was born in 1972 in Tripoli, Lebanon and has lived in Brussels for almost thirty years.

A former member of the Samandal collective based in Beirut, she is the author of several comics including Beirut, the trilogy, and The Storyteller of Cairo. Her latest graphic novel, Dans le taxi… is published by Alifbata Editions.

In the taxi… received the Grenades prize as a favorite of the prize’s godmother, Lisette Lombé, in 2022.

Her exhibition “Vers le féminin” is open at Espace Magh until 10/26/23.

Numerous comings and goings between Belgium and Lebanon have punctuated her career, between publication, running workshops and courses, production and multiple collaborations. She has also exhibited and published in several projects around the Mediterranean, in Europe or elsewhere in the world: Tunisia, Switzerland, Palestine, Italy, France, USA, Germany…

After an early career of voluntary dispersion where she filmed, edited, pasted in notebooks, worked for the theater and the circus, wrote, drew, traveled, hung out and made a few decisions, she has devoted herself to comics: graphic novel and press.
